Management Challenges

The Reports Consolidation Act of 2000 requires that the Agency Financial Report (AFR) include a statement prepared by the Agency’s Inspector General (IG) summarizing what the IG considers being the most serious management and performance challenges facing the Agency and briefly assesses the Agency’s progress in addressing those challenges. The Office of Inspector General (OIG) considers the most serious management and performance challenges to USAID to be in the following areas:

  • Financial Management
  • Managing for Results
  • Acquisition and Assistance
  • Human Capital Management
  • Information Technology (IT) Management

A summary of the issue, actions taken this year, and those remaining are presented for each area of concern. USAID aggressively pursues corrective actions for all significant challenges, whether identified by the OIG, Government Accountability Office (GAO), or other sources.
