AFTER: The Government of Azerbaijan and local health professionals are excited about the renovated hospital, whose emergency rooms feature a brighter atmosphere and modern emergency equipment.
A USAID project is providing collaborative, technical assistance to the Government of Azerbaijan to strengthen the delivery of pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency medical services within the broad parameters of the country’s healthcare system.
Shamkir Central District Hospital was an aged facility that had not been remodeled since the Soviet time. It remained the only health care option for the 185,000 residents of the city of Shamkir and the approximately 1 million people from the surrounding five districts.
The brand-new facility is bright, cheerful, and modern. Equipped with high-tech emergency medicine equipment, the facility was highly praised by the Government of Azerbaijan and health professionals. Hospital renovations will now be replicated in 12 districts throughout Azerbaijan.
